This week I received my long-awaited copy of Funk All Y'all from electric/dance/funk duo Detroit Grand Pubahs. I've known about them further than recent memory can recall. I'm almost positive I became a fan after hearing the song "Sandwiches" on the Internet. If you don't know what the Internet is, get involved! You can find out all about the Internet and what it is at your local library. Ask any librarian to help you with the Dewey Decimal System if you have a hard time tracking down books related to the Internet.
I digress. The song "Sandwiches" is on the album Funk All Y'all. However, it was released in 2001; making it a rare find in most mainstream music store outlets. That, and at the time of interest, I wasn't into buying sites like eBay and Amazon. My only choice was to look on iTunes. The only thing available at the time was their later-released Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus, which I scooped up, but slightly depressed it wasn't the album with the song I wanted. Let it be known that what can be assumed as their whole music collection is now available on iTunes.
I found a used copy of Funk All Y'all in great condition online last week and ordered it. The day it arrived, I had no time to burn it to my iPod, so I took the CD to listen to as I went to pick up my girlfriend from work. Her and I butt heads when it comes to music, and even she was bouncing to the funk. Detroit Grand Pubahs are a special blend of electronic, funk, dance, and humor. The beats on this album are good. They get you bouncing in your carseat like a happy toddler. The best part is that, to me, definitely over 75% of the album are bangers. This means there are maybe 2 or 3 skipper tracks, if you include the intro. However, I'm still on point where if I'm listening to the album, I do so from front to back.
So if you want a physical copy of this album, unless you live in the Michigan area, or are in a specialty store, you're going to have go do like I did and hunt it down onlines. If not, go to iTunes and give it a listen.
