A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste

A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste

I'm fascinated in learning about the mind. The three parts of the mind are the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious. Obviously, the conscious portion is that which we interact with on a 'conscious' basis. The other two aren't interacted with consciously all the time, but have validity. With that, things happen that make me laugh and say 'wow' when exploring the mind.

This morning, I was half awake. So my conscious mind and its limits weren't as imposing. I remembered thinking about something coupled with the theme from Perfect Strangers otherwise known as the Balki show from the 80's, if you remember. I was singing the song in my head over and over a few times. There was no "Ah ha!" moment, because there was no puzzle to be solved. It was what it was and I knew it.

Now, in any given state of awake where the conscious mind is controlling my day, I would be extremely hard-pressed if not completely oblivious to how the theme song to Perfect Strangers went, considering I haven't watched that show in nearly twenty years. However, I was in a state where I was less limited in interacting with my subconscious, in which all information is accessed.

During the day, I remembered the event from this morning, but once again didn't remember how the song went because I was fully conscious and it's been twenty years. I was curious to whether or not I had it right when I was half awake and wanted to know if I had it right or was it made up while half-dreaming. So, I looked it up on YouTube and sure enough listening to it rang a bell and I had been spot-on: "Standin' taaaaall! On the wings of my dreams! Rise and faaaaall!! In the wings of my dreams! No rain and thun-duh--No wind or haeeeeze, I'm bound fo' bettuh daeeeyz. It's maaaah life! MAAAH dreams... Nuthin's gonna stop me now."

Now lets put all this capability to use, shall we? Wait, what? We can't, because that's a stupid 20 year old jingle that has no benefit today? Well, can we at least get Bronson Pinchot some work these days? Maybe track down Mark Linn Baker to make sure he lives indoors? Something's gotta come out of this nonsense story.
